Transition to Routine Disease Control

Ouray School has taken the approach of following the science, local data, and recommendations from public health in its COVID-19 mitigation strategies. After 18 months of pandemic strategies, the school is considering its move to routine disease control with a target implementation date of Monday, March 7.

Two data points have driven decisions around mitigation strategies for the school this year.
  • regional transmission of COVID-19
  • school and county vaccination rates
County transmission rates are at a low enough level to consider moving, as other school districts are, to fewer mitigation strategies and a responsive approach aligned with other transmittable diseases.

Ouray School leaders will engage in conversations about the transition linked below.
  • Board of Education meeting - February 28, 6pm
  • Teacher Leadership meeting - March 1
  • District Advisory and Accountability Committee meeting - March 2, 4pm
