October is Fire Prevention Month and the Ouray School District and the Ouray Fire Department have events planned to bring awareness to fire safety.
Every month Ouray School District participates in fire evacuation drills in accordance to state law. During these times we teach students were to go and the quickest way to evacuate in the event of a fire. In partnership with OFD, this month's fire drill will also include members of the OFD. After the drill, elementary students will have the opportunity to visit with our local firemen and get to see the fire engines up close.
Additionally, the OFD is organizing a community event for all families to enjoy. On October 29th from Noon-4pm they will be hosting an Open House event at the fire house. Please see attached flyer for further details.
