Prearranged Absences

All students will miss school for health or personal reasons, and Ouray School wants to support students and staff when absences are foreseen in advance. A primary goal of staff is to support families to avoid high numbers of absences that affect student academic performance. When families know that they need to miss school, we ask that they complete a Prearranged Absence Form. This form communicates the dates of the absence and the opportunity to provide the reason for the absence. Please provide this form to the school seven (7) calendar days in advance. This provides the school time to communicate with teachers. Families can complete one form for multiple children.

 

Work will be available within a few days of the absence. For elementary students, teachers prepare a small packet of work. Secondary students are responsible for connecting with their teachers, but a form to document assignments and work to be missed may be picked up from the office. Class content may be found on Schoology.

 

NOTE: Ouray School will use and accept the prearranged absence form for emergency absences.
