Demuth to Take Over Track Program

The Trojan track team will have a new face as the head coach this season. After long time coach Bernie Pearce's retirement last spring the athletic department has selected Eric Demuth to take charge of the program. Eric has experience as an athlete himself. In high school he participated in cross country, basketball, and track. Coach Demuth then went on to Colorado Mesa University where he participated on the mountain bike team for the Mavericks. Eric has been no stranger to the Ouray coaching ranks as he has been a head coach at the middle school for the cross country and basketball teams. He has also stepped into a varsity assistant role on the high school basketball team and head cross country coach this last year.

When asked what his coaching philosophy is, Eric stated that he wants athletes to love their sport. This happens by encouraging and inspiring student to become life long athletes. Eric's wife is a teacher at Ouray School District and has two students who also attend Ouray Schools.

We look forward to continued success, under coach Demuth's leadership, of our running programs. His passion for running sports will be contagious to our current and upcoming athletes. Go Trojans!!
