Ouray utilizes the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) in addition to other assessments like the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) and Scholastic Aptitute Test (SAT). The ASVAB test format and reports provide a broader measure of skills and abilities than the traditional English and math scores. Students must also meet board-approved competencies in English and Math; the ASVAB test is a common way for Ouray students to meet one or both of those requirements. All students benefit from this test's reports.
Specifically, the ASVAB measures the following subtest areas.
- General Science
- Arithmetic Reasoning
- Word Knowledge
- Paragraph Comprehension
- Math Knowledge
- Electronics Information
- Auto Information
- Shop Information
- Mechanical Comprehension
- Assembling Objects
We encourage you to watch a SUMMARY VIDEO on the format, scores, and subreports of the ASVAB to better understand its benefit.
Opt-out Option: Please contact counselor Elizabeth Bates if you would like to opt your student out of this test.
