District Accountability

Ouray School District Advisory and Accountability Committee (DAAC)

Every school and district in the state of Colorado has an advising committee that is charged with examining key elements of school functioning. Ouray School will leverage this team to examine the following.

  • School performance reports
  • Advisory Personnel Performance Evaluation Council (formerly 1338 Committee)
  • School Unified Improvement Plan development
  • Budgeting and prioritization, including Federal Title programming
 

Ouray DAAC Meeting Dates

All DAAC meetings will be held in the Ouray School Library. All meetings are open to the public.

2023-24 District Assessment Calendar

DIBELS

Students in grades K-4 take a standardized reading assessment to gauge progress on key measures aligned with the Colorado READ Act.

  • Fall Beginning-of-Year Assessment: September 5-15, 2023
  • Winter Middle-of-Year Assessment: December 4-15, 2023
  • Spring End-of-Year Assessment: April 29 - May 10, 2024

NWEA Maps Interim Assessment* Windows

Students in Grades 3-8 take interim assessments in math, language usage, and reading three times a year.

  • Fall Beginning-of-Year Assessment: September 5-15, 2023
  • Winter Middle-of-Year Assessment: December 4-15, 2023
  • Spring End-of-Year Assessment: April 29 - May 10, 2024

ACCESS for English Language Learners

All students who receive a specific amount of ELL student services will take an annual exam. Students will complete multiple parts over the four-week window.

SAT / PSAT

  • PSAT (8th, fall administration) - October, 2023
  • PSAT (9th, 10th grades) - April 17, 2024 (tent)
  • SAT (11th Grade ) - April 17, 2024 (tent)

*NWEA is Ouray School District's interim assessment tool. These tests in ELA and math (45-50 minutes each) allow the school to gauge the progress of students throughout the year. Results are returned immediately after the window. These data are used to inform instruction, examine future placement, predict performance on state assessments, and set performance goals for the school's Unified Improvement Plan (UIP). 

**Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) are annual state exams in Math, English Language Arts (ELA), Science, and Social Studies. Tests are in three units of 75-110 minutes each. They are used to monitor students' ability to apply content and concepts to demonstrate master of state standards. Results are used to improve student instruction and monitor district progress towards targets set.
