Ouray Summer School Models

Ouray School District is supporting students with summer learning opportunities for elementary, middle, and high school students. The learning models vary by age level and the type of learning needs that teachers want to address.

Elementary School Model

Ouray Elementary School is offering a flexible, 1:1 tutoring model focused on student reading. Each student will get one hour of focused reading tutoring two days a week. Students will meet with the teacher face-to-face for in-person learning but families may arrange for some meetings to be set up virtually to accommodate family travel; however, the bulk of the program is designed to support reading needs through in-person meetings at the school.

Middle School Model

Ouray Middle School is offering an intensive, workshop model for middle school students focusing on middle school readiness and mathematics.

Jump Start with Phylis

All incoming 5th graders will be welcomed to attend Jump Start with Phylis. This program is designed to prepare new middle school students for middle school life. Topics will include: schedules, locker use, Schoology accounts, supplies, organizational skills, and kickoff courses in middle school reading and math. We look forward to this new program because we feel it will best prepare our 5th graders to transition smoothly into middle school.

  • August 16-20, 9AM -11AM

Math Summer School with Mrs. Coyer

Mrs. Coyer will be offering two summer school sessions for middle school math the week of August 16th - 20th. These sessions are by invite only based on academic need. This model is developed to give students intensive, small group, math instruction to prepare them for the coming school year. Ms. Coyer will be reaching out to families to invite them and schedule sessions to best accommodate family schedules. We look forward to providing this service to best prepare our middle school students for the upcoming school year.

  • Session 2: August 16-20, 1PM-3PM

High School Model

Ouray High School is offering an eight-week credit recovery model for students who are credit deficient. The hybrid model involves an online program from Colorado Digital Learning Solutions (CDLS) with a local coach. Two intensive, in-person weeks are scheduled throughout the term to support student success.
