Covid Return To School Guidelines

With the number of illnesses going around this month, Ouray School reminds staff, students, and parents to practice healthy habits to avoid getting sick.
  • Stay up-to-date on vaccines, including seasonal flu vaccine and the current COVID-19 vaccine.
  • Wash your hands frequently with warm soapy water.
  • Avoid touching your face, nose, or eyes after being in contact with communal surfaces
  • Stay home when you are ill
  • Get tested when you know or think you were exposed, or before gathering with others
When to stay home. Ouray School staff and students should stay home if they have any of the following COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Cough.
  • Tiredness.
  • Fever.
  • Loss of taste and/or smell.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Muscle or body aches.
  • Headache.
  • Sore throat.
  • Congestion or runny nose.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Diarrhea.
Return to school protocol. Staff and students must stay home with COVID-19 for five days starting from the date one of the following, whichever occurs earlier.
  • first clear symptom(s) (fever, loss of taste/smell, body aches, etc.)
  • positive COVID-19 test
Returning to school after five days (on day six) is contigent upon the following.
  • fever free for 24 hours
  • improving symptoms such as cough and tiredness 
  • wearing of a well-fitting mask for five additional days.
