Overview of Calendar Changes
Ouray's academic calendars will change slightly starting in the 2026-27 school year. Thanks to the input from students, parents, and staff members on key elements. The new calendars reflect the following changes.
- Start Date: School will start one calendar day earlier, but with Labor Day shifting back, the first day of school will be two weeks before the holiday weekend.
- End Date: For the first time in many years, school will dismiss for all students immediately before Memorial Day weekend.
- Graduation: Ouray's graduation traditionally was held the weekend before the last day of school. This will continue, but with the earlier finish, graduation will be held a weekend ealier. For 2027, graduation will be Saturday, May 22.
- Winter Break: With a strong interest in longer breaks, Ouray will have a bit of a hybrid calendar starting next year. In the fall, there will be several key three-day weekends as with past years, but there will not be an extended weekend after Presentations of Learning. In the spring, there will be a new week-long Winter Break that includes Presidents Day.
