Dear Ouray Parents and Community members,
I would first like to thank Dr. Kenneth Nelson for his twelve years of service to Ouray School District and congratulate him on his new administrative position in Olathe for the coming year.
As Ouray School looks forward to the 2026-27 school year, our mission remains the same: we are an educational community built on high expectations, striving for all students to contribute responsibly in a global society by ensuring them an exceptional education in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment.
I will be recommending to the Board of Education that Ouray School seek an interim principal placement and dedicate time in early 2027 for a comprehensive search for a permanent PK-8 principal to join the Ouray community.
At this point, I would like to extend an invitation to students, staff, parents, and community members. I am committed to including these key constituent groups in the process of hiring new school leadership even when summer schedules are busy and conflicting. The target interview time period will be the middle two weeks of July. If you are interested and available, I invite you to step forward by emailing Katie Galvan at [email protected] or contacting the school directly at 970-325-4505.
Sincerely,
Tod Lokey, Superintendent
