September is Suicide Prevention Month and The Center for Mental Health is working to bring awareness to the incidence of suicide in our communities. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the United States and it does not discriminate--people of all backgrounds, income levels and ages are affected. Suicide is preventable and The Center is committed to helping stop suicide in our rural communities.

The middle and high schools have some courses that rotate every other day. The school will have Orange and Black days to help students remember. For high school, these are three block classes; two other classes are every day. For middle school, enrichment (elective) classes will rotate on this schedule.

Ouray School moves away from its long-held domain to a streamlined @ourayschool.org.

Ouray School is proud to announce that meals will be free again for all students. This includes breakfast and lunches.

Ouray School will open to in-person learning again for the fall of 2021. We are excited to be expanding as many opportunities for students as possible while addressing our role in a continuing public health crisis. Ouray School has partnered with Ridgway School District and Ouray County Public Health in the development of the plan.

Help is available for renters having trouble paying rent, utilities, or other housing costs--or for landlords trying to stay afloat with tenants in this situation. State and local programs are distributing billions of dollars in rental assistance to help renters stay housed during the pandemic.

County school administrators and school nurses will be meeting with county health officials to look at recent concerns about variants and disease transmission to make final adjustments to school operations guidance for the 2021-22 school year.

Ouray School District R-1 officially announces open seats on the board of education for the November ballot.
